We promote positive mental health to combat loneliness, anxiety and despair

Story

I am competing in the Forfar Triathlon alongside Liam Kerr MSP to raise money for two fantastic charities in the North East of Scotland.

We are rivals in the Scottish Parliament debating chamber and will be rivals again in the Forfar Triathlon. Make no mistake, I will be doing my best to beat Liam across the finish line. I'm used to beating him in debates and I never shirk a challenge!

But no matter who wins, we both want the real winners to be the charities.

Pillar Kincardine provide fantastic work in supporting people who have mental health issues while The Pitstop in Forfar has provided a safe, welcoming environment to young people for 20 years.

If you are making donations, I'd be grateful if you could split the donations between the charities to give them both a chance of raising money to fund the vital services they provide to our North East community.

We build resilience through activity-based peer support with advice from staff and invited speakers. We also provide mental fitness workshops to local schools, as well as opportunities for volunteering and employment. And we work within the community to tackle the stigma surrounding mental illness.
