have been given the opportunity to go to Nicaragua for 3 months volunteering, this is a country living in poverty, More than half the population in rural Nicaragua struggle to live on little more than £1 a day. 3.4 million people die each year as a result of unclean water this is a huge issue in Nicaragua, when out there I will be involved in a WASH project (water, sanitation, hygiene) these are basics of living and when done right will reduce deaths better health and make it more accessible to the community preventing them wasting valuable working or educational time gathering water.
