An estimated 123,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to neighbouring Bangladesh following violence in Mayanmar. The number is rising. They need your help, fast.
The Myanmar emergency is a long standing one. We have been working there since 2015 constructing barracks and shelters as well as providing food aid.
In light of the most current round of violence and humanitarian catastrophe we are working with teams on ground to support those fleeing to Bangladesh in the Ukiya region - District of Cox Bazar by the border, we are extending our assistance to Pakistan (Karachi) & working inside Myanmar too. Programmes are taking a two strand approach.
The now and current needs by way of rapid emergency response which is based around food and medical aid alongside devising a long term strategy that addresses the needs of refugees over the next year - this is combination of shelter, child friendly spaces, a food kitchen etc. A team is being deployed and travelling out this Saturday with Barrister Rizwan Hussain. This is a emergency situation and instant imagery is not always possible, the priority is getting aid through which we are and have done - Alhumdulillah.
Working in such situations involves compliance with regulation, law and humanitarian practices - this means securing authorisation from the NGO Beureau, the Deputy Commissioners office and so on. As a professional NGO we have responsibilities to oblige to such and thus there is a process thats adopted. As images and feedback come through - as ever - they will be shared with MarComms to disseminate on social media handles and wider.
"And whoever saves one life, it is as if they had saved mankind entirely." [Surah Al-Ma'idah]
Please donate today to help the Rohingya refugees who now need your help more than ever.
