Dave was one of the most genuine and professional officers I have ever had the privilege to serve alongside.
On Friday 22 April 2016 I sat down for dinner with Dave and other friends. He was, as ever, on fine form and in high spirits. I had no idea that the two days we spent catching up in Edinburgh would be the last I would see of him. On 24 April 2016 he died of a cardiac arrest whilst competing in the London Marathon to raise money for wounded and sick service personnel.
Selfless to the end, it will come as no surprise to those who knew him that he passed away doing something to help others.
This year I will be running the Virgin London Marathon 2017 in a bid to raise money for the Captain David Seath Memorial Fund which supports veterans who have undergone physical or psychological trauma.
