Story
No parent wants to hear the words; “Your child has cancer”. We did. Our beautiful boy was given that diagnosis aged just two. It’s absolutely devastating. At our first clinic appointment Esther, a Social Worker from Young Lives vs Cancer introduced herself to us and was a great support from then on, through treatment and beyond. Seven years on he’s thriving and I want to give a little back and help more families receive the support we did in our darkest days.
I started running with my local running club a year ago and have gone from couch to half marathon in that time. Fundraising for YLvsC is a great opportunity for me to challenge myself to step that up to a marathon distance. It’s scary but the thought of everyone I could be helping will get me through the training and hopefully beyond the finish line on race day.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. To find out more visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk
