Swerving Drinking For Dementia · 1 March 2018

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Gran, Kath, has dementia and I have seen what she once was, and how it has taken her away. She is a beautiful shell of what she used to be. There are flashes of her old self, and it is amazing to see and really lights up m heart. But for my gran to lose a lot of that amazing personality, and character that she had, that people have always loved has crushed me and my family in particular my Mum.

This happens to a lot of people and I think it’s something that everybodies family struggles to cope with, in addition to the actual person who has the illness.

I am going to do a personal chalenge-I’m not drinking for 3 months but I’m also going to run the 22 miles from St Helens to Southport. This is just less than a marathon.

This is for everyone with dementia and future sufferers and their families.

I love you Gran. xxx.
