Just over a year go I was diagnosed with a rare  type of liver cancer that carries a rather poor prognosis.

Thanks to the collaboration of caring medical health professionals I have been lucky enough to receive state of the art treatment which combined chemotherapy and innovative radio therapy, which appeared to have halted the disease, at least for a while. After nearly seven months off treatment, the tumour is now slowly regrowing so we will be repeating the course of therapy over the coming summer.

Importantly, my family and I also benefit from the support of the team at the Maggie’s Centre in Cambridge, who have helped us stay positive and hold it together throughout some difficult times.

Maggie’s Centres are funded almost entirely through charitable giving, and I wanted to thank Maggie’s Centre Cambridge for their continued support by making a fourteen day sponsored walk of the famous Coast to Coast path from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire this spring. 

Starting on my birthday, I was joined along the 192 mile route by members of my incredible family, and by wonderful friends, each of whom also committed to raise money for a charity important to them.
