Story
Hey all. After 3 years of trying i've finally been accepted to run the London Marathon next april. 26.2 miles what am I thinking. In all honesty i've been waiting to get in so I can raise money for the Queen Elizabeth hospital critical care unit. They do a great job trying to keep our nearest and dearest alive. Including mine...
My dad wasn't very well 2 years ago. After going in for a routine op he became very ill and ended up having multiple heart attacks due to a few underlying conditions.
He spent 4 weeks in critical care on numerous machines, which in all honesty we all thought was just to keep him as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. After being told a few times the machines were to be switched off, fortunately he managed to turn it round.
Luckily for us he's a straight up superhero and it wasn't his time to go.
That aside if it wasn't for the state of the art machinery we have at the QE and the staff we have there then there is no way he'd still be moaning at the tv, annoying my mom and smiling his head off right now! There were a few specialist machines that kept his lungs going that are only available at the QE and london hospitals. As much as we may not think it, we are blessed to have such a great hospital on our doorstep.
So forget chip shop friday and throw a couple of pound in my kitty. Money will go towards this fantastic local hospital and the ccu unit so they can continue to help the people we care most about.
Big thank you for reading my story. But even bigger thank you for those donating from all of my family. We have seen first hand what this hospital and charity can do we are forever indebted to them.
I suppose i'd better start running! I'll keep this page updated on my progress.
Marcus
