Mersey Tunnel 10K run · 10 June 2012
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running this race as a personal challange and as a way to say thank you to the wonderful Macmillan nurse who supported my sister, Naomi, through her treatment for Leukemia and Lymphoma, sometimes being the only person who could make her smile in her darkest moments, not to mention the support he gave to all of us in the family too. He was often to person who would translate the medical jargon into simple terms for us and his sensitive, compassionate approach made a very difficult situation more bearable.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I don't run! I think I was eleven the last time I ran and 'sporty' is not a word you would use to describe me which is exactly why I wanted to do this run - as a real challenge to myself, my legs and the sports bra! Seriously though I have seen such strength, determination and grit in my baby sis over the last 8 months that she has inspired me to do this.
The training has started and I would really appreciate any support to help in this challenge. I have also been inspired by my lovely hubby, Jim Backinsell who asked me to run this. Jim is doing his own fundraising (year without beer) but we are running the race together (or at least starting it together!).
Thank you!
