The reason I have chosen this charity is because of a brave & beautiful little girl called Beau, who is the daughter of a close family friend. Please take a moment to read Beau’s story below, there are no words I can add that echo the importance of charities like Children with Caner UK.

Beau's Story

Our daughter’s name is Beau; she’s three and in May 2014 she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia.  Beau has undergone 9 months of intensive treatment and has a further 18 months of maintence chemotherapy left and will finish her treatment in September 2016.

It is difficult to believe this is actually happening to our beautiful little girl. It is painful to watch her endure treatments which are so brutal for anyone, let alone a child, when all you want to do is protect her and take her place.

Without any clues or warning, we have been thrown into a world no parent or child should be part of. Quite honestly, it is a world we wish we knew nothing about, but it is a world filled with some of the most inspiring children you might wish to meet: children who show such incredible courage, who cope with traumatic treatments every day and they do so positively and with a smile. Slowly, we are proud to see Beau is learning to be one of these brave children.

From a situation such as this, we are determined to try to bring something positive. Countless families have already benefited from the work that Children with Cancer have carried out. Although, a lot has been achieved, there is still so much more that can and needs to be done.
