I started my running journey during the first lockdown back in April 2020 and I started with the couch to 5k and have been running 3 times a week since and have gradually increased my distance and am now running at least one 10k a fortnight.
I have chose a charity close to my heart so will be running for EBA (Early Birth Association) who offer a wide variety of help and support to babies born too soon, poorly, the families and staff on the TMBU (Trevor Mann Baby unit, Brighton hospital) and SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit)at Princess Royal, Hayward’s Heath.
The EBA is a charity who works closely with both units raising funds for vital equipment needed on the units, supply food, tea and coffee for parents on the unit, blankets, Muslins, nappies and also vital equipment needed on the unit such as incubators, cooling mats, breast pumps and Transport Resuscitaire
Many people who will know me, will know that both my children received care from TMBU after birth. My daughter Billie was born 11 weeks early weighing 3lbs 2oz and spent her first 7 weeks in TMBU back in 2013 and when my son James was born in 2016, he didn’t need to stay on the unit but had an infection and received care in his first 24 hours on TMBU.
I am forever grateful for the amazing work TMBU do and the amazing support from both TMBU & EBA to support and care for, babies, families, and staff on the unit and I want to raise as much as possible for this amazing charity.
If you want more information on the charity please check out their website and find out more of the amazing work they do
