Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you in advance for your support :)

So, why did I apply to fundraise for this particular charity… I heard about Lily Foundation through a colleague and reading Lily’s story found it touching – a little girl who was the cause and inspiration for this charity in the first place. Having mitochondrial disease Lily only lived for 8 months. But what was heart-breaking in my mind was that her parents got her diagnosis early on and had to live with the knowledge for months. No one should be given a diagnosis and told that there’s nothing to be done. Hence the importance of Lily Foundation in giving hope to families dealing with a similar situation. But not only that, they also provide support of being able to talk to people who have faced a similar challenge and provide specialist equipment for children to help them deal with their condition.

Another reason why I really love Lily Foundation is that as a small charity fundraising for them will actually make a difference. It's a close knit community of people who have been affected by Mito through a relative or a close friend and hence all have a personal reason to support the cause.

I don’t know how much you guys know about London Marathon and running for a charity. Unless you have secured a place to participate you need to apply to do it through a charity and there are way more people out there wanting to run the marathon than there are places. So as much as you are choosing the charity, the charity also chooses you - and Lily Foundation chose me.

So maybe this once instead of grabbing a pint or a glass of wine on a Friday evening or a couple of cups of coffee throughout the week, or whatever your little guilty pleasure is, we all have one, think about spending it on making a difference :) And if not for this cause, find something else you care about.

There are two things I'd be really happy if you took away from this post: firstly, I hope you have a better understanding of Lily Foundation and their cause and secondly please find a cause you support and help to make a change.

And lastly if you think it's a worthy cause please do help this amazing charity through donating via my page. Let's help together to give hope for fight against Mito :)
