The Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, often through their telephone helpline.

When I was ill, I had very dark self-destructive thoughts. I
would not wish thinking that way on my worst enemy.  It is an all consuming ever pressing feeling that ending it all will be the best and only solution. It defies all logic, and flies in the face of the love and support your loved ones are giving. While I never rang the Samaritans myself, talking to franchise-holders, family and friends supported me and kept me from the edge.  When there is no one else there, there are
always the Samaritans 24 hours a day.
