Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. Our vision is that through the power of rugby every child and young person across the UK & Ireland, no matter what their background has access to the same opportunities.

Story

Last Year Team Merlot's Mates raised £4,400 by climbing 4 of the highest peaks in the UK and Ireland within 48 hours. This year the Team intend to raise a similar amount for the same charity Wooden Spoon, which supports a whole range of projects designed to improve life for disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK and Ireland. http://www.woodenspoon.com/194_132.php

This Years Event - The Great Lakeland Challenge

In less than 12 hours, teams of three canoe the 10.5mile length of Lake Windermere, cycle 26 miles over England’s steepest road pass, the 1:3 gradient Wrynose and finally, conquer Scafell Pike, navigating an 8.5 mile route from Wasdale Head to the Langdale Valley in the Lake district.

Ford and Sky Sports TV have teamed up to support and promote some of the toughest challenges in the UK and across the world. The Great Lakeland Challenge has been selected and is the only charity challenge to feature.
