My Marathon for Simon.

Yorkshire Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·
On 12th January 2021 we sadly had to say goodbye to a very unique human being; Simon Edwards.
He was the best of friends, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a best man, a captain, a jolly and for many that knew him - a legend.
Simon was truly one of a kind! He was funny, honest, genuine, reliable, had a smile that could light up a room, I could go on and on about him but I won't. I find typing this very difficult but it's because of him that I am doing this so I best crack on.
Running a marathon will be no easy task but it is nothing compared to the challenge that he had to face for the good part of 2 years, what he endured during this period would have broken the toughest but the strength that he showed was that of a Gladiator/Warrior and he will forever be a hero to me. The courage/fight he had was something that I have never witnessed before, he would often be the one who would ask if we are OK - when it was him who was in pain, he made difficult times easier, but that was Simon, he thought of everyone before himself.
Simon touched the heart of everyone he met, he had an aura about him that was infectious, he was the best of us and he was more like a brother to me for 22 years, and I am glad that I was able to share a huge part of my life with him. He will always be apart of us and his spirit will live on through his wife, kids, family and friends.
I am running the York Marathon on 16th October in his honour, I know that he will be with me as I run every step - he'll be pushing me hard and also laughing at me and he will be the reason why I will give my all to complete it.
I would like to raise vital funds for the Velindre Cancer Trust who were absolutely fantastic with Simon during his battle.
I will really appreciate every spare penny that you can donate for this truly amazing person/charity and I thank you in advance.
