Our perfect little boy Chester Mack Drummond was born at 22:08 on Tuesday 7th October 2014 weighing in at 8lb 14oz, however as a result of complications during delivery, he sadly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 8th October 2014 at 04:56.
More recently, in the early hours of Monday 16th May 2016 at 01:29, Chester's beautiful little sister Cora Elizabeth Drummond, weighing in at 6lbs 6oz, made a surprise appearance into the world.
On both occasions in hospital Suzanne, Chester, Cora and I received an outstanding level of specialist care, compassion and support from staff within the Special Care Baby Unit #SCBU and the Newcastle Neonatal Service based in Wards 33 and 35 of the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle upon Tyne.
During the hardest, scariest and happiest days of our lives they worked around the clock to ensure that we were given the highest quality of care and they took the term “supporting families” to another level.
Working alongside the RVI team, are Tiny Lives Trust that help to care for premature and sick new-born babies, their mothers and families in the Special Care Baby Unit.
The fund aims to provide the highest quality of care on an ongoing basis and needs to raise at least £250,000 every year to support a range of facilities, staff, and equipment - many of which our little family experienced first-hand.
