Story
I have unfinished business with the London Marathon!
2018 was the really hot year, and the punishing weather got the better of me ( I must thank the medical staff at Mile 21 for looking after me).
So I'm taking it on again, this time raising money for the National Autistic Society. On a personal level I'm aware of how everyday life is different when someone has a diagnosis of autism. But every diagnosis is unique, because autism is a spectrum and affects people in very different ways. Wider society is starting to understand more about the condition - for example supermarkets having "quiet" hours with no music & dimmed lighting, and theatres putting on "relaxed performances" with some lights left on & no surprising bangs. But there is so much more that can be done to improve things further.
If you want to know more about how your support for me, as I pound the 26.2miles of central London on Sunday 26th April 2020 ,will help then visit www.autism.org.uk
I'm excited to say I shall also be taking part in the Ride100 through the Surrey hills in August. When I last rode it in 2018, the one day of that scorching hot summer that it rained was on the day of the Ride100. I have never been so wet, and I couldn't really enjoy the view because it was so wet & windy. Here's hoping the conditions are better this year!
