Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
For those that are close to me you’ll know that my love of running over the last couple of years has driven me to want to complete my first marathon.
If you want to see what I’ve been up to or want to follow my journey head over to www.instagram.com/mark_woodley
I’ve now run many other races (mostly half marathons, 10 miles or 10k) but am yet to complete the 26.2 distance!
I was blown away when I managed to get a ballot space in the London Marathon and whilst I don’t need to raise money for charity to support my entry I want to use this as an amazing opportunity to support two great causes and raise as much money as I can.
The two charities I want to support are JDRF and Lympoma Action.
Both charities have great meaning to me with my mum being in complete remisson following a battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and my sons football team mate being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
At the beginning of 2015 my mum was diagnosed with high grade non Hodgkin's lymphoma. After months of gruelling chemotherapy, a lot of praying and hospital visits I'm so happy to say my mum was told on the 2nd September 2015 that she is was cancer free!!!
More and more of us seem to be impacted by cancer, and I hope one day all cancers can be treated as effectively as my mums.
Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer. We’ve been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 30 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Our work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma. We’re here for everyone affected by lymphoma. https://lymphoma-action.org.uk/
