Welcome to my Just Giving fundraising page! I am running the 2025 Edinburgh Half Marathon for Meningitis Research Foundation in order to raise as much money as possible. I was completely naive to Meningitis in thinking it was something of the past that didnt effect people now as seriously, until it effected our family directly. In February 2022 when our daughter was only 5 months old she nearly lost her life to an extremely rare type of bacterial meningitis (meningitis Y). This is only common in young adults so babies are not vaccinated against this strain. Thankfully Lily received treatment quickly, and after a few weeks in hospital she made a full recovery and thankfully has left her with no lasting damage. Lily showed no obvious symptoms as with bacterial meningitis there is no rash, her condition took a drastic turn within an hour and as her parents we knew something was not right and took her into hospital straight away.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. Meningitis Research Foundation fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
