Acorns Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle Challenge 2011 · 3 November 2011 ·

Acorns supports around 750 children and almost 1,000 families every year. The charity needs to raise £11 million each year to provide its lifeline care. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable. Together, we are stronger.

Story

This year we will both have been involved with Acorns Children's Hospice for 21 years, with Martin being Chairman of the Coventry and Warwickshire Support Group.  To celebrate this milestone we have decided to set  ourselves two serious challenges in November 2011,  Firstly, to undertake to cycle 400kms from Vietnam to Cambodia, and secondly, in doing so, we intend to raise a substantial amount of money for Acorns.

Acorns cares for children and young people who have life limiting and life threatening conditions.  It provides short break, emergency and end-of-life care and currently supports over 500 children and families. No one can change the fact that a child will die, but Acorns makes every day special for the children and families who use it's services. It is vital to help them make the most of every moment, whilst creating a bank of happy memories to treasure in the future.

We have decided to take on this Cycle Challenge and the breathtaking 7-day bike ride will take us from Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.  Neither of us are seasoned cyclists and are therefore having to follow a strict training schedule to prepare ourselves. This may sound very serious but we are both really looking forward to this adventure.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and we hope that you will be as generous as possible in your encouragement and sponsorship -  Martin & Felicity
