D-Day 44 Challenge · 6 June 2019 ·

The UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, we've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Story

I will run the D-Day 44 challenge on 6 June to mark the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the liberation of Europe. I will be running the 44 miles along the four invasion beaches to raise money for Combat Stress to support the fantastic work they do to help veterans. I will also be running in remembrance of my Grandfather, Bert Wade who as a Sergeant-Major with the Royal Engineers landed on Gold Beach. He’s pictured here with my Nan Gladys. Also pictured is a map of the route and surviving sections of the Mulberry harbour at Arromanches on Gold Beach.

I hope you can help me reach my £500 target.

Thank you.
