Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hello,

I'm Martyn and I'm putting my body through 26.2 miles (and its first marathon) for a cause that is very close to my heart and bum...I'm running in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. I'm hoping to raise £1500 to help them continue their work.

I was a young lad, maybe 7 or 8 when a member of my family was affected by prostate cancer. My grandad was sadly taken by this disease and I know it had a great impact on my family and in particular my dad.

Fast forward 18 years and this disease has unfortunately crept back into our lives. Earlier this year, around the autumn, i received a phone call from my mum who told me that my dad had gone for a routine check up. Whilst there, the consultant informed my dad that they had found cancerous cells on the prostate and would need surgery to remove them.

Thankfully, the operation was a success and he is now on the mend. It's still early days but we are thankful we caught the signs early but we understand that not everyone shares the same luck.

In honour of my grandad and my dad, I'm running for Prostate Cancer UK so they can continue their great work and raise awareness for younger people.
