Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So...sitting on the sofa in April 09 watching hobble over the finish line I decided I should enter the London Marathon for 2010. Sounded like a great idea in my head and it looked like a laugh on the tele.....then, in Dec 09 I had a confirmed place and that's about the time the 'good' idea became reality!!

You have to actually train for the , I've come to realise. Buying Runners World Magazine and flashing it on the train to look sporty isn't going to work and I'm actually having to put on my trainers and brave the rubbish winter weather. Here began my journey to over 26miles! Obviously this winter has seen snow and the coldest February in 20 years...super!

The sore feet, sore toes, sore legs aside; this is a great opportunity to raise money for a great charity and one that I feel passionate about - Help the Hospices.

In 1992 my Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and, despite radiotherapy, after a 2 year battle sadly died in 1994. He fought it to the end and the courage and strength he found for my Mum, me and my sisters was amazing.

Then in 2001 my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer (for the second time) and had no choice but to undergo a double mastectomy. She started a course of chemotherapy, the effects of which are painful to watch. Her hair fell out, she was weak and in incredible pain and braving it alone as a widow. Her strength to get well was amazing and although she has decided not to have a reconstruction she is living a full and healthy life now. Regular medication and check ups have controlled her cancer and we are hopeful it won't reappear.

For both my parents the Help the Hospice Charity, especially the South Bucks Hospice provided support, care and advice free of charge. They provide patients with a place to rest, relax, take their mind off their illness and a place to receive treatment in a non-clinical environment. The hard work and sensitivity of the staff is second to none and a charity that fully deserves the support to continue its work with other patients and their families.

I pledge to continue to lay off the booze, to keep braving the never ending winter and to completely ruin my feet in the quest to run the Marathon if you dig deep and me raise as much money as possible for a great charity.....?!

Thanks for all your support...I'll update my page with my 'progress' so keep reading for, no doubt, typical Bunni, ridiculous and amusing tales!
