We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

My name is Mary Mullins and I am 31 years old. I have recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour called a medublastoma this is normally a tumour found in children and only a small percentage of adults have had it.

I had surgery to remove the tumour but because of where it is was situated in my brain the surgeons could not remove it all.

I seen my oncologist for my results a week after surgery it felt like longest week of my life. He confirmed the tumour was cancerous and I would need 33 days of radiotheraphy
( today is day 27, only 6 days to go woo hoo) and this would follow with 6 cycles of chemotherapy.

My oncologist seemed pretty confident they could cure me.

The short term side effects from treatment are tough and the long term possible side effects are scary to think of but I am trying to remain as positive as I can about the future.

I have great family support and a  lovely boyfriend and  friends so I am very lucky. I have also got a very supportive workplace.

I think there should be more awareness out there for brain tumours and rare brain tumours, I suffered terrible headaches for 6 months before getting diagnosed and I am very determined to share my story to help others and do what I can to raise awareness.

I am taking part in the Twlight Walk in Windsor on the 16th of October and I would like to invite all  my friends/ family to walk with me. If you cannot attend can I please ask you to donate as much as you can to this great charity.
