LEJOG (Lands End to John O'Groats) · 25 April 2013
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well the great news is that we have now completed our expedition from LE to JOG in one piece and I can still walk and even sit down! We completed the 877 miles in the 9 days in a time of less than 60 hours overall. We climbed over 42,000ft and whilst riding we burnt off approximately 32,000 calories which means I can now have lots of cake! We were extremely fortunate with the weather with only 45 minutes of rain albeit the wind was generally always against us hitting us from northerly directions.
Enormous thanks to my cycle buddy Martin who cycled with me for the 9 days and led the peloton for most of the journey, my son Tim who joined us for one leg and brother John who joined us for three legs. A big thanks to Ann who did most of the driving and Jan our Masseur who gave us the treatment on 4 evenings! A really special thanks to my loved one Teresa who took gentle care of me at all times x.
Your response has been amazing and I thank you all for the donations you have made, it has given me that extra boost that this was indeed a really worthwhile venture to partake in! I will definitely remember this venture and your generosity for some time to come.

My story is simple and perhaps very common to a number of people. I have lost my dad and brother to cancer and have experienced the suffering of many others who have contracted this disease. More than 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime.
So for my small part of contributing to this cause I am going to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats, that's about 900 miles over 9 days with approximately 350,000 revolutions of the wheels. I am doing this with my mate Martin, and partly with my son Tim and brother John who will be joining us for some of the legs! I will be raising monies for Cancer Research UK.
We have arranged the event totally without the aid of a sponsor so every pound donated will go straight to research and not to cover accommodation, travel, food, drink (non alcoholic of course until we reach the Seaview Hotel at John O'Groats) and unnecessary administration expenses. Every pound is important so even if you can donate only a few quid I will give you a big smacker the next time we meet!
Please help to beat this awful disease, I would be most grateful if you could dig deep and donate now.
