As we all get older life seems to throw more and more challenges our way. Be them from work, family, health concerns , they all affect us differently. I think we’ve all been down and depressed at some point and it’s easy to overlook others who are suffering with depression too. Especially when you have your own problems to deal with. I’ve always offered a friendly ear to anyone who wants to talk about what’s hurting them however, I feel now is a good time to try and offer something more. By participating in a personal challenge I can try and help those charities who offer support to people with mental health problems. Too many people in my life have recently taken their lives because they felt they had no other option. It took me a long time to realise but I too have suffered with depression but I found that pushing myself physically in a way that requires mind over matter, helps me to repair, reflect and refocus . The sense of achievement in finishing a challenge is the best anti-depressant ever not to mention it’s a great way to lose weight and get physically stronger.
