My name is Tommy Lavers, I was born 10 weeks early weighing only 2 pound 10 on the 4/4/06. My daddy told me that it was the most amazing, wonderful, scariest and emotional experience he and my mummy have ever shared and been through. There were ups and downs ,highs and lows, words he said can not describe the emotions at the time... I am very lucky to be here.
After 8 weeks in Winchester SCBU I was allowed home at a grand weight of 5 pound.
I am now a healthy 3 year old full of magic dancing beans !!!!!
My daddy wants to help other children and parents who find themselves in this situation and give something back to Bliss, and he's going to run the London Marathon, but needs your help - I have started saving my pocket money so I can sponsor him, but he thinks that wont be enough, I've told him not to worry- all my friends will help........Please Please Please help me help my daddy help Bliss xx Please read on. Just updated 150310 I dont know how this is going to work or if anyone will read it! I want to add a little blog as and when I can!
1st I need to thank Stuart Johnson and his lodge, Dens dad, who has pledged the £500 off line on my completion, the masons do such geat work for charity behind the scemes. Thankyou.
Also a BIG thank you to to Sheffield Insulations form the SIG group who have pledged me £200 on my completion, very kind. .............
So running - if you have done it you know its hard, tough, bad, but so rewarding afterwards. After 20 minutes you are bored after 1/2 an hour you hurt, after an hour you want to be home and thats just thinking about it.
My training is both metal and physical. Mentally its about why I am doing it and how I will achieve it. In my own mind its self achievement and appreciation of Tom, that makes the battle of training easier, all I have to do is think of his face and it makes me smile. I can hear his cheeky comments in my brain and it makes all pain go away. Physically its about knowing my own limits and not breaking myself with the mind of an 18 year old and the body of a 38 year old.!
Where I am todate !
Currently up to 12 miles in one go ! I am running 14 on saturday 6th March " yes I am" Anyone want to join me!
I feel sorry for the people in the garage I will stop for water at! The hum and steam I saw coming off me the last time scared me, I didnt realise it was me! I thought it was the man behind. I honestly stood in the que and could smell B O and them saw the steam coming off myself. Stopping was a test, I nearly asked for a lift home! The technique I use is dont take a mobile, and smell awful, and this will make me run. Be inspired I am. More later x
Saturday was tough, very tough. I went out on a 14 miler !!!! 1st seven were easy! the last 4 were hard!!!! The middle bit cant even remember.
Note to myself - dont go to quick!!

Last night out on a 8 miler !! Totally forgot the road going out to kingsworthy runs out of street lights. Therefore I had to rely on the cars coming to see anything, fun, fun, sort of slowed me up a little. Still managed to do the 8 in 75 minutes, nice pace legs hurt now though!! Pain killers help. Semi rest tonight, then 5 thursday then 16 saturday.
Going to use that 8 mile route but wear a head lamp next time. It makes you run faster when the car lights show you the way. You realise you are running inbertween 2 fields on a strip of tarmac!
Where hi vis and take my head lamp!

Quick 4 miler Tom went over the road to his mates I went for a sprint!! EASY ! Den out. Building myself up for a 16 on saturday. I can do it .....................
Done the 16 miles on saturday morning, phew ! 2 hours 25 mins, happy with the time but it really knocked the crap out of me because I had a bit of a cold and so it probably made it worse!. Sunday I felt awful. Monday even worse, rest today and hopefully do a small run tuesday. As I still have to build these miles up at the weekend. I'm planning another 18 next Saturday. I cant believe I actually ran 16 miles and am still able to walk!. :) As the distance gets longer I going to have to slow down at the early stages otherwise I will be crawling home. Alcohol and running just dont mix time to cut down!!! The marathon is approaching!

Had a rough week. My immune system decided not to work! Couldn’t run all week totally knackered, cold cough, flu, ver drained. I now know I must eat a bit better, drink more water, take my vitamins. Get mentally prepared. I was out last night for 5 ½ tonight 8. I need plenty of rest and lots of pasta in-between. IT’S ALL IN THE PREPARATION! I can do this. I am building up for the 18 miles on saturday! Love it :)Thats wat I tell myself!!!
DONE IT 18.6 miles completed on Saturday, phew, from Winchester to Asda in chandlers ford and back ! As Tom says as I left "To infinity and Beyond!!" It felt like it, happy and comfortable with it though, This Marathon is in the bag!!!
Out for a 20 miler on Friday then start easing down!
Thanks for all your support, people!!!!!!!
Well I survived the 21 miles I ran Good friday!
I took top advise from Pete F and ran at the pace I was comfortable with and did the 20! 10 of then in the rain, My inner core was sooo cold!! Manage to warm myself up on the last 5 and got home. I felt I needed to test myself and took Petes advice and pushed my self even further. It’s not like I will get there very often in my life of running 20 miles and so just to see how my legs would feel like I run another! Top advice though. It’s a mind issue, my body said stop my mind said noooo !!! loved it. Mentally its in the bag, my mind has now got to convince my legs :P

Well the final few days are here already! Everything is ready, I think, fittness is goodish, all the money raised, accomodation sorted, I've just got to run it, off on a 3 mile warm up tonight I think then rest.... gulp!
Cant wait, hearing from past runners the London isnt the place to go for your PB because it is so busy! My aim is to enjoy the day and finish, I am already getting butter flys in my stomach. Bliss T shirts dished out to the kids and dance tunes on my phone for the low bits!! All the training I have been doing will be worth it, thank you to every one who has sponsored me and said they will sponsor me, both finnegan flooring and parkway plastering are going to wack some additional company money in as well. this might be my last entry befor the big day.
A big thank you to Denise and Tom who have put up with my training !!! love you both xx
Look out for me on the telly!!
