I first did the London - Brighton ride when I was 15, riding a five speed racing bike with a buckled back wheel and a plastic saddle. Took me 7.5 hrs and the dreaded Ditchling Beacon hill certainly stopped me in my tracks (immediately). Well thirty seven years later I'm back for another tilt! Aided by a severely upgraded steed and obligatory Lycra! This time I'm aiming for a much improved time and no walking up the big hill!.
