Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to look at my story, this is how it all came about:

So i'm 29, married, mortgage and have two beautiful little boys! Last year I was told about a local Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Centre called Winspers. I had recently lost a couple of stones through running and diet adjustments but was starting to lapse, so this sounded exciting and I was immediately interested.

My first session there was fantastic, I started learning some new skills and the class was high energy and got me sweating and working hard. By the end of that first class I knew that this would be an ideal way to get fit and learn some new skills and make new friends. Little did I know this would be the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Fast-forward 6 months and I have fully immersed myself in training hard and eating right, it has almost become an obsession that I am always thinking about and adjusting to get the perfect balance. Nowadays I am training most days, eating pretty lean and spend my free time with my family or practising techniques and researching new ones

An opportunity arose in the form of this Worcestershire MMA Challenge to put my skills to the test for an amazing cause. Included in that opportunity just happens to be stepping inside the cage to compete in an MMA fight whilst raising money for Acorns Children's Hospice.

When you think about stepping into the cage to fight someone it is a pretty intimidating prospect. However, the benefit of stepping outside the comfort zone and presenting myself a true challenge was too much to turn down, so here I am, signed up to fight on 11th March.

I have found some true motivation to get fit and eat right, now I turn to you reading this to ask.... can you offer support to the amazing charity that Acorns Children's Hospice is? Right now they are helping children with life threatening conditions and the majority of funding they get is from you/us the public.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for reading my story, it will truly be a crazy 8 weeks culminating in an amazing event! I will keep you updated on my progress through the blogs and pictures available on my page. Please share this page on your social media to spread the word!
