Live tracking on the day 50km route-https://share.garmin.com/share/GiGAHiKE
On Friday 6th May, myself and my dad will be attempting to hike 32 miles(50K) across Dartmoor National Park over a 2 day period whilst carrying all the essentials weighing up to 15kg each. We will be wild camping over night and surviving off rations of food and relying on the natural sources of water.
We will begin on Friday 6th may at Ivybridge and complete our adventure on the Saturday when we arrive at Okehampton.
The majority of the walk will be on open moorland with conditions on Dartmoor being extremely challenging with its infamous bogs, mist, hill fog and live military firing areas. Dartmoor is a vast 368m² national park in Devon. It is renown for its challenging environment due to being the home of the infamous Royal Marines 30 mile march.
On the 2 day hike there will be a link to a map share site listed abve, where donors can track the progress live, and all activity can be shared via our Strava Account.
We are aiming to raise £500 for a great charity GIG. In these particularly tough times I have personally experienced the pressures and anxiety caused by debt and the ever increasing cost of living to your mental health.
GiG's Radical Interest Free Repayable Grants are payments made to households, living close to or below the poverty line. Repayable by means of monthly voluntary donations to GiG, thus giving the recipient the dignity of being a giver.
