Edinburgh Marathon for PKD

Edinburgh Marathon 2023 · 28 May 2023 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Around 70,000 adults and children in the UK may have Polycystic Kidney Disease or PKD - life-threatening, inherited conditions that can cause renal failure, and affect other organs in the body.
Why fundraise for PKD Charity?
When I was only 1 year old my gran passed away from PKD, at the time not much could be done. Fast forward a few years, my dad is diagnosed with PKD, and he is now in need of a kidney transplant with his functionality dropping below 10%. To say it has been difficult for him would be an understatement, and without the research of PKD Charity and other specialist charities, the situation we face wouldn't be as promising as it is today.
Why run a marathon?
I have decided to take on the Edinburgh Marathon (May) 2023, as I want to use this as an opportunity to raise money for PKD charity to help them continue in their amazing work. But, I also want to do this in support of my dad this is another reminder for him that we are in it together, and everything will be just fine💚
Further, I think this will be a great opportunity to document my struggles (and successes) as I prepare for and take on the marathon, whilst raising awareness for PKD.
What does PKD Charity do?
PKD Charity supports those affected, their families, and carers. They mainly focus on two huge aspects to raise awareness and fund research.
