Made it through today 7 down and 5 to go!! It was a hot one today!!

6 years ago my mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, a very advanced and aggressive form of and she was encouraged to take a new form of Chemotherapy from America, by the University Hospital. With a combination of this treatment, a few operations and radiotherapy, she came through it. 

After an amazing 18 months, she found out it had returned! This time, we caught it sooner and after more operations she was given the all clear again.

However 2 years later, after suffering from some savvier hip and lower back pain and after lots of tests, mum found out the cancer was back in the form of Lymphoma and she had 2 tumors wrapped around her kidneys. She was close to giving up and not choosing to fight for a third time, but she stepped up again, like she has all her life. 

This time knowing that it wouldn't go away, but this was to give us more time with her. She did it again, for her grandchildren, my sister and I and that is what my mum has always done, fought for others first before herself!

She has battled through chest infections, loss of mobility and her independence, pain and at times despair. But she is still here, fighting on every front, everyday she wakes up and behind her have been the amazing people in and on the Cancer wards and departments of Southampton University Hospital.

As a result I want to do something for them and celebrate my mum's life and the on going fight against cancer. If they can do all of this for us, I can run in the hope of raising money for the C wards, The Oncology Department and these amazing, wonderful and incredible people. To say thank you from all of us who have had loved ones experiencing this horrible disease. Without their hard work, kindest, determination to help people. Without their smiles and laughter, I wouldn't have my mum still and countless others wouldn't have had the time with their loved ones. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul.
