Story

Hey there! First of all, thanks for taking the time to come and check out my fundraising page! secondly, apologies for the rather long story your about to embark on but I feel the best way for me to promote what I'm doing is to lay it all out for you to see.. :)

So. First things first.. (The story so far)
Back in January I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The tumour was removed back in March and I’m now recovering. The first few weeks after surgery were incredibly hard as I had lost all strength on the left side of my body but thanks to a heap of support and a lot of training I am now back on track! Thanks to the tumour I’ve had to cancel my first ever Europe’s Toughest Mudder and My first Rough Runner (in aid of HHCP)
I’ve been advised to cancel any other events for this year to allow for recovery.. This doesn’t sit well with me.. So, I’ve decided to continue with 3 more challenges. This way I stay focused and a great charity gets more funds to continue the amazing work they do!

Back in 2008, after a long run with depression, anxiety and two failed suicide attempts, I had decided to attempt to take my own life.. Though shier luck I failed but this is still an event that haunts me even now.. Its for this reason, back in 2014 I decided to create a "bucket list" as a means to keep me busy and my mind occupied.. The first item on the list happened to be my first trip in a plane... For a skydive! That ended up being for charity. Soon after I found that I loved taking on challenge's to raise money and awareness for different charity's that had either helped me or had made some form of impact on me..

For the last 3 years I have been fortunate enough to work with a great organisation in Hull, working in a homeless support hostel, helping to rehabilitate some of Hull's homeless and less fortunate.

It's though working with this organisation that I was incredibly lucky in meeting the guys and girls that volunteer for Hull Homeless Community Project (HHCP). These guys get no wage and very, very little recognition for the incredibly hard work that they do! HHCP will be seen every week walking the streets of Hull, looking for rough sleepers, offering them support, hot food, something warm to drink and ultimately, a friend that they can talk to, relate with and be safe in the knowledge that there are people out there that want to get to know them and their story’s.

What these guys do has struck a cord with me, they really have inspired me.. Over the last year things have been quite rough for me. At one point, earlier in the year my depression came back quite hard.. I spent a lot my time wondering why I was bothering to "stick around" Cutting what will be a very, very long story short, its my second family (HHCP) that helped me bounce back and help me get the confidence I needed to get back and start doing what I love.

so far I have raised money for HHCP by completing the Hull 10k, hosting a coffee morning, pie in the face raffle and being gunged!

For this years events, I have decided to take take part in The Hull 10k and two Tough Mudders (back to back over a weekend!)

It would be amazing if you could donate what ever possible, this would not only be appreciated by me, the guys and girls at HHCP but also Hull's Homeless!

Thanks for taking the time to read this! :-)
