St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity based in West Suffolk and Thetford, serving our community since 1984. As a charity, we believe everyone matters in life and death, and we strive for something better for those facing dying, death and grief.

Story

On 7 July I will be racing in the 350th annual Newmarket Town Plate - the oldest horse race in the world.

The Town Plate was inaugurated in 1666 by King Charles II, who rode in an won the first race. Every year since it's been run over the same three and a half mile course in Newmarket.

I've lost a stone in weight and had to pass an intense fitness test before I can take to the saddle. I'll be riding Medieval Chapel, for Nicky Henderson, to whom I'm incredibly grateful.

So wish me luck, and please give generously to this amazing charity.

Matt
