St John Cymru was established in 1918 and during it’s time provided the first ambulance service for the people of Wales. Since then our services have supported people through some of the country’s highs and lows, from rescuing soldiers on the battlefield in the First World War, to being pitch side when Wales has won Grand Slams. St John Cymru may have changed but we are now Wales’ leading first aid charity and we believe our work is as valuable now as it was 100 years ago.
Thanks to the support of over 4000 volunteers we continue to deliver frontline services in the heart of welsh communities and vital support to our emergency services, helping to keep people safe and every year caring for over 9000 people who needed us. To help build a safer Wales we’re building a nation of life savers, by providing children and adults in the local community with the vital skills they need to save a life and provide first aid to people in their community. Our aim is to create a Wales where there is a first aider in every home.
Our centenary campaign is underpinned by a set of values that reflect the work and culture of St John Cymru Wales. These are:
