London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
On Sunday 2nd October 2022 I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the RNLI.
As a crew member at Appledore lifeboat station, I am fully aware of the great work the RNLI undertake throughout the UK and Ireland, and the significant costs involved in keeping a lifeboat service operational 24/7, 365 days a year (almost £140 million in 2020). As a charity that is independent of the government, the RNLI receives no government funding to provide its lifesaving service, and relies on the generosity of its supporters.
Although I have never run a mass marathon before, I ran my first marathon in North Devon last year for the Samaritans as part of the virtual London Marathon series. As a recreational runner the opportunity to now run the London Marathon, whilst raising funds for a charity that means so much to me, just feels like the right thing to do. It also means I now have a time to beat!
Many thanks for your support – please feel free to share this page far and wide!
