Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was a keen cyclist many years ago and now in middle age I am getting into it again. I loved watching the Tour de France on TV and even stood by the roadside to watch it fly by. I was inspired by the ludicrous idea of people on bikes riding huge distances over the gigantic landscapes of the Alps and the Pyrenees. Life went on and cycling became less important.

Like many people, I have known the sadness of seeing people close to me affected by cancer and also seen the great work that Macmillan do.

Some time around my 40th birthday it suddenly dawned on me that I should do something a bit bigger than my usual bike rides round the lanes of Leicestershire and why not actually have something useful come from it. So this is why on July 8th 2012 I will be riding L'etape du Tour which replicates stage 11 of this year's Tour de France - 140 km across the alps with 4 categorized climbs. I shall be training and trying to lose weight to help me get up the mountains. why not sponsor me and smile to yourself as you think of me struggling up some very long and very tough mountain roads?

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I'm even trying to write a blog of my training and may even update it now and again.
