Story
As you all know - my dad passed away in June of prostate cancer. Those of you working in healthcare would know that it is meant to be a very treatable cancer. I’m often told that men with prostate cancer will die of something else rather than cancer itself. My dad was only 66. I was fortunate enough to say goodbye to him when he was still lucid but I wasn’t there by his side when he died. To say that this has taken a toll on my mental health is an understatement.
In his memory, I will be raising money for Prostate Cancer Research UK with £3000 as my goal. I will be running the distance of a marathon every month (42.2 km) and will be running for PCR UK in the London Marathon in April 2023. I may shave my head again for this event to remember my dad when he had to shave his head for chemotherapy (and to be slightly more aerodynamic).
Alongside my journey, my sister Michelle will be swimming 10 km every month, and my mum will be doing 200,000 steps a month.
