#TeamOrange - London Marathon 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Unfortunately, I had to defer the marathon space for April 2025 due to a knee injury that wrote me off in January 💔 all donations carry over to next year and I’m forever grateful thank you x
So, anyone who knows me will know I am NOT a runner and I am actually one of the laziest people alive (I won’t go in to details but there are some shameful stories!). I have a new idea every week so when I said I wanted to run a marathon before I turn 30 (in 5 years time!!), I wasn’t expecting to actually run a marathon. But, after saying my idea to my grandad whilst visiting him after work a few months ago… here we are!
My grandad (who we always call Dougie) was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy 25 years ago when he was 55 and is one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life. Unfortunately, after some complications from a risky surgery in May, Dougie decided he wanted to go out his own way and have his feeding tube removed which was obviously heartbreaking as a family but we respected his decision 1000%. When visiting him during this time he told me he still would love for me to run the marathon and thought I would do an amazing job (he also told me I would be A*+++ favourite grandaughter so I had to secure my spot!!)
Despite being given days to live, after 9 weeks with no food and just some sips of tea, Dougie was still going strong and was moved to a care home where, now 6 months later, he is still giving out his orders and making everyone laugh. This one is for you Dougie 💓
