London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2024 TCS London Marathon for Versus Arthritis as I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 19 (I am now 23). When people hear the word "Arthritis", they automatically think it is a condition that affects those of an older age or it has developed through injury. But many people don't know that there is more than one type of arthritis and this disease can affect anyone, at any age including those who are younger. This chronic pain condition can be debilitating and can really take a toll on your mental health as you learn to navigate life in a different way. When I was finally diagnosed by an amazing consultant, it was life-changing. I am on biologics treatment which involves a fortnightly self-administered injection. This has allowed me to live a life of a normal 23 year old. I want to raise awareness of this condition and the fact that someone may look well but be struggling a lot, and I know I am not the only one. If I can raise money to help others access the treatment they need, and help Versus Arthritis invest in breakthrough treatments, it would mean the world to me, to know that I can help someone else. Lets together overcome the pain, isolation and fatigue of arthritis and associated conditions for good!! I previously ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 and am taking on the challenge of doubling my distance this time round!!
