Story
This October I’m taking on the challenge of running 62 miles for Diabetes UK, a charity that is incredibly close to my heart. I live every single day with type 1 diabetes, and it’s a battle that never really stops. From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed, I’m constantly checking my blood sugars, counting carbs, and adjusting insulin. Even then, things can change in an instant — the highs and lows take both a physical and emotional toll. It can feel exhausting, overwhelming, and sometimes really scary.
What weighs on me most is knowing that children are facing this same fight. Many go without the monitoring and support they desperately need, and no child should have to go through the fear of sudden highs or dangerous lows without proper care. That’s why I want to use this challenge not only to push myself, but to raise awareness and funds to help improve the lives of those living with diabetes now, and to work towards a future where it’s easier — and safer — for children and families to manage this condition.
Every mile I run will be a reminder of the daily struggles of type 1, but also of the hope we can create together. Any support you can give means the world, thank you for standing with me.
