Story
In September 2014 my step dad was diagnosed with histiocytic sarcoma cancer. After being ill for 6 months before being diagnosed the doctors told us all all that was wrong with my step dad was a slipped disc in his back. Therefor when the news of cancer came the whole family was very distort. histiocytic sarcoma Cancer is very rare and mainly only found in dogs, the last human to suffer with this type of cancer was over 20 years ago, but the doctors told us everything would be ok and the worst would be for my stepdad to have a bone marrow transplant. My stepdad turned 46 in the 9th November and was allowed to come home for the week of his birthday, but after then unfortuntley the cancer got worse and on the 19th November we was told my stepdad only had 48hours to live. My step dad and mum had been engaged for 6 years and planned to get married once my stepdad was better in the spring of 2015. On the 20th November my mum and stepdad finally said their vows to each other and was married before cancer could stop this. The next week my stepdad moved into a local hospice as he carried on battling against the illness. Two weeks later on the 6th December 2014 my stepdad gave up his battle with cancer and lay to rest.
This year and for the years to come me, my family and friends are all taking part in lots of different charity events for cancer research and for the primrose hospice who helped my step dad in his last weeks.
