Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On December 20th at 10:00am (AEDT) I will be climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge accompanied by my husband Nick and 14-year-old
daughter, Ella. The 3 of us are excited and scared in equal measure, but hope to use this as an opportunity to raise funds for a very worthy organisation – Saint Catherine’s hospice in North Yorkshire.
My company, Castle, are running a 12-month long fundraising
campaign in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice in celebration of our 50th
We have chosen to support this worthwhile cause as last year
they cared for our MD's Suzanne Burnett's dad in his final weeks and supported her mum at a very difficult time and therefore we wanted to ‘give back’.
The hospice provides specialist care for adults with
progressive, incurable diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and heart failure.
Many of you will know that my own family has been affected
by cancer this year, and in 2010 I lost a good friend to breast cancer. Her time spent in the local hospice opened my eyes to the amazing care that they provide free of charge for people from the point at which their illness is diagnosed as terminal, to the end of their life. Hospice care places a high value on dignity, respect, and the wishes of the person who is ill, and aims to look after all their needs, as well as the needs of the person's loved ones. From medical expertise from hospice nurses
and doctors to manage symptoms and pain, as well as offering emotional and psychological support, to having no visitor restrictions – family and friends can visit at any time of the day or night, and stay for as long as they want. They also provide support and counselling to
patients, loved ones and family members, with nurses available around the clock.
I'm incredibly grateful to those who would like to sponsor the
climb and help raise money for a very worthy cause.
Thanks so much.
