Story

Beginning 13th June 2019 - I will attempt to handcycle Land’s End to John o’ Groats (LEJOG), and break the Guinness world record.

The current female Guinness world record stands at 11 days.

I have personal reasons for attempting this challenge, a spark of adventure that was lit way back within a hospital’s four walls, and one that has grown over the years building to this point. My passion for adventure and my love of sport has always been closely linked, and following some corrective heart surgery at the end of last year that had put a pause on my racing career, this project built over the last year brings my experience and mindset of performance sport, into the world of adventure and ultra-cycling.

One of my goals I set myself when I was back on the stroke ward, was to climb a mountain again. This was one challenge I knew I could only do with the right team around me to safely get me up and back down. Ten years on from setting that goal, Adaptive Grand Slam (AGS) were that team.

In October 2018, just 3 weeks post minor heart surgery, I was a part of the AGS team on our summit attempt of Gran Paradiso in the Alps, at 4,061m; the highest mountain entirely within Italy.

The AGS foundation helped fund specially adapted adventure crutches to enable me to mobilise in mountainous and winter conditions, and supported me through my own mountain journey.

I want to do what I can to support other on their journeys.

Thank you so much for supporting me and in turn those benefitting from the AGS Foundation, to reach their possible.
