Kilimanjaro Challenge · 10 October 2016 to 19 October 2016 ·

Dementia Australia is a unified, national charity for people living with all forms of dementia, their families and carers. We represent the 487,500 Australians living with dementia and the estimated 1.6 million Australians involved in their care. We are the new voice of Alzheimer’s Australia.

Story

Climbing Kilimanjaro has been on my bucket list for years and any time I have thought of attempting it, something has stood in my way, words like "You can't do that" and "?Really? You?"

So now I have placed my stake in the sand and I am going to climb Kilimanjaro, this October. Even better is that I can do it while promoting something I am very passionate about by joining Alzheimer's Australia.

I am a nurse and the Clinical Manager at Opal Seahaven Aged Care Facility. I love my work and have first hand experience of the growing number of individuals being diagnosed with Alzheimer's and the general deficit, in societal knowledge surrounding the disease.

By taking on this challenge, I will be achieving my goal at the same time as promoting Alzheimer's and its growing impact on our community
