Mercury is delighted to announce that its charity for 2010 is the Marie Curie Nursing Appeal for East Yorkshire. Our first fundraising activity will be Jane Tomlinson's Hull 10K Run for All, on May 23rd.
Kelly Todd, director of Mercury, said: “I am so happy to be raising funds for this vital cause. Cancer affects everyone’s lives in one way or another. Whether you do it in memory of a close family member, a friend, colleague or someone else that you know who has been affected by cancer, it’s worth making a donation to this charity and I hope people will dig deep to help us raise £2,000 which will only make a small dent in the appeal’s £300,000 target."
Last year, Marie Curie nurses provided more than 17,000 hours of nursing care in East Yorkshire for more than 280 terminally ill people. Marie Curie Cancer Care needs to raise £300,000 to continue to provide this vital service, which enables people to make the decision to die with dignity in their own home. Research shows that approximately 70% of people would rather die at home if they had a terminal illness.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please donate now and help us smash our target!
With thanks in advance from the team at Mercury.
