Mia's head shaving

Shaving my head · 19 July 2020
In the summer, Easter and sometimes Christmas my family would travel down to near Bristol to meet a friend Max and his family to stay with them for a few days. They were lovely and owned an old, quirky country house overlooking Glastonbury Tor. However, a few years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer, too late to be treated.
I remember his goose called Beverley. He would eat Max's trousers every time he tried to get an egg (geese have sharp teeth on their tongues). When somebody came out of the front door, they would start squawking away in a little hysterical chorus. I miss Max, and even his berserk geese.
I have come to realise that these situations are not rare. Most people will have had to endure some kind of pain or loss from cancer and I want to change that, even if it is just a small step.
The ordeal of cancer as a child must be horrible and turbulent, and can make them feel isolated and sad. Having your hair fall out must be even worse. £550 is the amount of money it costs to make a wig out of human hair. If I reach my target, I can give the Little Princess Trust enough money to take my hair and transform it into a wig. Just being able to plait your hair could bring joy to an otherwise dark period of life
I have raised the target from the initial £550 to a further £800 thanks to the sheer number of people who have donated. I am absolutely blown away from the kindness of people 😊
