Michaels HSBC abseil for MND · 28 June 2019

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Twelve months ago I received an unexpected diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, a life limiting illness. In that short space of time I have lost the use of my arms and legs, can breath only with the support of a ventilator and am slowly losing my voice. Despite what appears terrible, and indeed it is, I remain upbeat (and indeed alive) thanks in part to the incredible support provided to my family and I by both the MND Association and the North Midlands MND Care and Research Network (itself part funded by the charity).

Having worked for HSBC up until my diagnosis, I set them the challenge of abseiling their new head office in aid of MND.  Both they and I were game for the challenge, and I saw no good reason to allow my loss of mobility to prevent that.

Therefore, on 28 June, 100 colleagues and I will be abseiling down the 10 floors of the atrium at HSBC UK, 1 Centenary Square in Birmingham. I would greatly appreciate your donations in order to support this great cause.
