I definitely do not consider myself a runner and have often wondered why so many people take part in something where the original person died trying. However, 2 years ago I made the semi-drunken decision to do it and now here I am fully committed.

Enough people convinced me that if I'm doing this I ought to raise some money for a good cause and have always wanted to give back to the heroes in the NHS, especially those brave staff in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit) ward at Wythenshawe Hopsital who not only saved my son's life 4 and a half years ago but do the same thing for the most fragile and delicate, tiny human beings every day without a second thought.
