Story
So who am I and why am I doing this?
I am 54 years of age and enjoy cycling and rugby so putting the two together here I am, as to why I’m doing this some would say I’m mad although I see this as a way of combining the two things I enjoy to do some good.
I applied to do the London 100 in 2013 and 2014 without success; however, a brochure was enclosed with the rejection letter detailing charities that offered guaranteed places for participants willing to raise money for them in exchange for a place on their team.
On reading through the brochure I noticed that the RFU Injured Players Foundation were looking for team members and as a member of Harlequins for more years than I can remember and a season ticket holder for the 2013/2014 season I applied and was accepted as a team member which gives me a chance to help those people who have been injured playing the game that is and always has been a very important part of my life, in my younger days playing regularly and now as an avid supporter of the mighty Quins.
I have therefore set myself the challenge of cycling in this 100 mile ride to raise money for the RFU Injured Players Foundation whose mission “Is to be there for every seriously injured player now and forever”. Click on link for more details of the work they do http://www.rfuipf.org.uk/
Finally thank you for taking the time to read my JustGiving page and a heartfelt THANK YOU if you have made a donation to this worthy cause.
